Flight Operations Checklist

- DJI Inspire Two - single operator (PIC)
- Launch and Return to Home in same location
- Less than 2 hour flight time required
- Deliverable are photo or video files

    Job Verification
    • Verify source of job request.
    • Review job requests for safety and success requirements.
      • Determine flight requirements: location, time, duration.
      • Confirm FAA flight authorization availability with AirMap or other service.
      • Review Section chart and/or Google maps for potential hazard or risk issues.
      • Confirm weather forecast for planned date.
      • Consider shoot time for best image, foot traffic, auto traffic, other variables plus or minus for results.
      • Confirm flight insurance available for this location and time.
      • Confirm drone equipment can produce the requested photos or video (resolution, format,…).
      • Confirm the required software is available for pre-, realtime-, and post processing.
      • Confirm Shot List and/or other requirements for deliverables.
    • Compose and submit job quote for approval - include payment terms, data ownership and release terms.
    • Get any Q&A completed, revise statement of work/quote as needed
    • Proceed if all is confirmed (big job may require a partial payment to start).)
    • Begin Job Log with flight plan notes, setting configuration, custom requirements.
    Day Before
    • Review Shot List, deliverables and flight plan.
    • Charge all batteries - drone, controller, iPad, iPhone, extra equipment
    • Verify storage space available on memory card(s)
    • Preform pre-flight inspection per mfg recommendation
    • Use Equipment Checklist to locate and pack all needed equipment
    • Program Way-Point Flight Plan, as needed
    Day Of Flight Prep
    • Confirm software/firmware is up to date
    • Verify Equipment Checklist - load up.
    • Include hand carts, hi-vis vest, clothing, food/drink, supporting equipment as needed to support the work environment and safe operation
    • Go to the site
    Onsite Setup
    • Confirm no on ground issues to prevent safe operation
    • Identify any overhead obstructions
    • Confirm weather, lighting, wind, etc., for optimal results
    • Establish a safe operation space for take-off and landing
    • Identify and address any person or business that may have questions/issues with operation.
    • Acquire FAA authorization for flight plan, as needed, if not already done.
    • Acquire flight insurance by app, if not already done.
    Pre Flight
    • Propellers locked
    • iPad and hood installed
    • Antennae's up
    • Controller and UAS on
    • compass calibrated, if necessary
    • Set return height for this location
    • Install selected camera - 15, 25, or 45mm (w/ ND filter,if needed)
    Do The Job
    • Monitor surroundings for safe operation.
    • Setup safe takeoff and landing space.
    • Verify satellite, controller and display function at takeoff
    • Confirm battery life value (best above 95%)
    • Follow job shot list. Take more photos and video than required
    • Verify content before leaving site
    • Pack it up when completed. Don’t leave anything behind.
    Job Completion and Review
    • Process photos/video as needed.
    • Produce deliverables (usually post on private website for review and download)
    • Deliver to the client
    • Answer any follow-up questions
    • Verify payment for job completion
    • Complete Job Log with lessons learned.
